• ``Cancer deaths soar among women smokers": Globe and Mail, Sept. 16. Two new studies show that lung-cancer death rates among North American women smokers are out of control. In Canada, the rate this year is expected to outstrip that of breast cancer, while in the U.S., fatalities were found to have increased sixfold between the sixties and the eighties.
